Europese dag van de talen2

EUNIC Netherlands, in collaboration with the OBA, is celebrating the yearly European Day of Language. This day, taking place every year on the 26th of September, has become a tradition over time. To mark this day, a programme has been put together for the 24thof September at the OBA Oosterdok.

The European Day of Languages celebrates the enormous linguistic diversity within Europe. This day brings attention to all the different languages in Europe, and promotes the value of learning a new language. On the 24th of September, there will be a lecture by Sharon Unsworth on multilingualism, and a series of ‘speak-dating’ sessions. During the "speak-dating" sessions you will receive short one-to-one language lessons with a native speaker, where you will be introduced to a foreign language. From Spanish to Maltese, you will experience the wealth of European languages!

The collaboration with the OBA for the Day of Languages fits nicely with the Huis van alle Talen by the OBA. By working together with diverse partners, the Huis van alle Talen unites the wonderful variety of languages and cultures present in Amsterdam, and generates a variety of collections and activities.
